Laboratory and Diagnostic Testing and Evaluation

Today’s business executive understands that success is not possible without knowing the metrics.

At the National Center for Integrative Medicine ® in Joliet, IL, information is critical to our treatment plan– and your health.

Diagnostics

NCIM doctors preforming lab testingDiagnostic testing performed under any Personalized Wellness Plan, Concierge Medicine Membership Program, Weight Management/Reduction Plan, Employee Health Plan, or any other exclusive physical offered at NCIM, require appropriate diagnostic testing which are custom tailored to each individual’s specific plan or treatment.

A sample list of diagnostic testing performed at NCIM include the following:

  • Resting electrocardiogram (EKG) to detect changes in the heart’s electrical activity; may indicate damaged tissue, blocked arteries, or irregular heartbeat.
  • Chest x-ray to assess heart size and pumping ability; pulmonary disease, including masses in the lungs. Subsequent tests may be ordered if there’s a history or respiratory symptoms, smoking or lung disease.
  • Pulmonary function tests for emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, or other problems. Follow-up studies may be needed if there is a history of respiratory symptoms, smoking or lung disease.
  • Audiogram to test hearing, especially high-frequency hearing which impedes speech comprehension.
  • Eye exam to assess external eye structures, pupils, eye muscle function, internal pressure and visual acuity. Ocular symptoms or known eye disease would indicate the need for further testing or a second opinion.
  • Nutrition screening.
  • Fitness evaluation includes a set of measurements to determine the health status and physical condition of the individual.
  • Body fat analysis to detect the risk of diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea and certain cancers.
  • Depression screening to measure factors leading to depression.
  • Bone density scan (for women) to detect osteoporosis, recommended for pre-menopausal women who have not yet been tested.
  • Pap smear (women) to show changes that might indicate a risk of cervical cancer (performed during pelvic exam).
  • ABI, or ankle-to-brachial blood pressure index, measures the degree of occlusion of the veins and arteries of an extremity.

We utilize local community resources, i.e. hospital and diagnostic facilities for additional testing not performed at NCIM.
